Privacy Policy

The short version: we collect what you tell us and how you react to products so ModAnon can learn your taste. We use it to personalize your feed. We don't sell your personal information, and you can delete your account and data in the app at any time.
This policy explains how ModAnon ("ModAnon", "we", "us") collects, uses and shares information when you use the ModAnon mobile app and the website at modanon.app (together, the "Service").
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information: your email address and password. Passwords are stored by our authentication provider in hashed form; we can't see them.
- Shopping preferences: clothing and shoe sizes, budget range, brands you want to avoid, and any corrections you make to your Style DNA.
- Messages: anything you send us by email, such as support requests or early-access requests.
Information collected as you use the app
- Activity: the products you're shown, and whether you like, pass on, skip, save or unsave them; products you open and how long you view them; and when you tap through to a retailer.
- Derived profile ("Style DNA"): weighted preferences for things like colors, silhouettes, materials, brands and price ranges, calculated from your activity and preferences.
- Technical information: basic information needed to run the Service, such as app version, device type and operating system, session identifiers, and error logs.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, or payment information. Purchases happen on the retailer's own website, not in ModAnon.
How we use information
- To create and secure your account.
- To build your Style DNA and rank and explain the products in your feed.
- To filter out products that don't match your sizes, budget or blocked brands.
- To measure and improve the quality of our recommendations.
- To respond to you and send service messages (for example, beta invitations or important changes to these policies).
- To prevent abuse and comply with the law.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only in these cases:
- Service providers that host and operate the Service for us, such as our database and authentication provider (Supabase) and our website host. They may use the information only to provide services to us.
- Retailers and affiliate networks, when you tap through to shop. Product links may pass through an affiliate network (for example, CJ Affiliate) so the retailer can credit ModAnon with a commission. When you tap a link, the network and the retailer receive standard information about that click, such as your IP address, device and browser details, and the product you chose, and may set cookies on their sites. Their privacy policies govern what they collect.
- Legal and safety reasons, if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.
- Business transfers, if ModAnon is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. We would notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Retention and deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. You can reset your Style DNA in the app at any time. To delete your account, open Profile → Delete account in the app. This immediately and permanently deletes your account along with your preferences, Style DNA, saved items and activity history. If you can no longer sign in, email hello@modanon.app from the address on your account and we will delete it within 30 days. We may keep limited records where the law requires it.
Your choices and rights
You can view and correct your Style DNA and preferences in the app. You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your personal information by emailing us. Depending on where you live (for example, California and other U.S. states), you may have additional rights under local privacy laws; we will honor requests as those laws require and will not treat you differently for exercising them.
Website
The modanon.app website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Our website host may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses and pages requested) for security and reliability.
Children
ModAnon is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted connections and access controls that limit each user's data to that user. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
Changes
We'll update this page when our practices change, and will notify you in the app or by email of significant changes.
